Texture
With this assignment of texture, I wanted to work with nature. The more natural feel of the texture seemed more interesting to me compared to working with a wooded wall. It brought more color and varying textures to the photos when I worked with things such a leaves, grass, and trees. The articles provided with this assignment, after reading, gave me a better understanding of how texture is a good element that can be added to any photo. It helps by making a photo have an element of pop that reaches out to the person viewing a photo. I thought the articles were interesting and gave helpful tips of how to improve my photos when using texture.
Online Example of Texture
The image I was found from a website called, Expert Photography, under the article "How to Photograph Textures" by Taya Ivanova. I chose this as an example because I feel like the texture captured in the image really stands out. From any other online example I found, I felt this one really projected the texture. Its use of layering the leaves allows the viewer to believe they are reaching out and feeling the ferns. Everything from the lighting to the positions makes the photo work.
Also a big part of the image that stood out to me is that the photo seems so natural but still has a guided direction of how the photo is supposed to look. It has the natural feel due to the main focus being ferns but it also has a very clean look due to the placement. It is a photo that pleases the eye because it is not direct objects set in one place, it is instead leaves that flow in to direct the viewers eye to the center of the image. I also really appreciate the choice of not having an object or bright pop of color in the center because it would take away from the texture presented in the photo.
