Framing a Subject
With the assignment "Framing a Subject" reading the provided articles were really helpful. It gave a few tips on how to making framing lead to the subject. In one of the articles provided, it talked about adding foliage to make it more so I felt like have Sierra, and Vanessa, my models, standing by greenery would add a more natural element. With working with layers as well, I felt that the leaves helped add depth to the photos instead of having a solid background. I felt that if the image had a solid background it wouldn't stand out as much and it wouldn't catch they eye. My subjects stick out do to their contrasting tones from the background.
I feel that this assignment was a fun concept to play around with and if given the chance I would do it again. It would be interesting to work with different background and maybe even, different people. I liked the assignment and it was interesting to dive into something I'd only really scratched the surface of. It was nice the get a better understanding of the art of framing a photo.
Critique:
1. What camera metering mode did I use and why? I used portrait because I wanted to make the subject. the model, be the center piece of each photo. I felt that the framing of the leaves would be better blurred and have the model have a clear face.
2. Do I have a strong composition? I feel my photos have strong composition.
3. How well did I edit my photographs? I edited the lighting on two of the photos to make them look darker and I feel like the darker green background with the brighter models is a good contrast.
4. What would I do differently if I shot this assignment again? I would want to try out different ideas of framing to see how different of photos I would result in.
5. Do you think your photographs belong on the blog home page and should be considered one of the best from all the photo classes? I consider my photos to be strong competitor but I feel for sure that other photos from other students would have the possibility to out do my work. Every student has their own style, so I don't feel like one photo from all the classes should be considered superior especially since we all have different skill levels.
